6 Months After Earthquake, Haiti Still Needs Help!
Posted: 07/26/2010 PORT-au-PRINCE, Haiti - Six months since the earthquake hit, and much of Port-Au-Prince is still rows upon rows of rubble. On the sides of streets, where houses were once located, tents are homes for families seeking comfort from the stifling heat. In the middle is a medical oasis. It's where the Delray Beach-based Dorsainvil Foundation set up a clinic 10 years ago.
Our WORK in the 2010 Earthquake Relief
The Dorsainvil Foundation was able to respond immediately to the medical needs of those in need in Haiti after the earthquake. Below, you can see photos from that trip. CAUTION These pictures show actual injuries that are graphic.
7.0 MAGNITUDE EARTHQUAKE STRIKES HAITI
January 12, 2010
The Dorsainvil Foundation thanks you for your donations and support. Since the 7.0 earthquake hit Haiti on January 12, 2010, our foundation has been working hard to provide aid to victims of this disaster. The foundation’s founder, Dr. Pierre Arsene Dorsainvil, along with a team of 10 doctors, nurses, and paramedic’s journeyed to Haiti days after the earthquake. They delivered medical care, supplies, and medication to thousands of injured Haitians.
Our clinic, in Arcahaie, Haiti, was not damaged in the earthquake and continues to treat patients. The Dorsainvil Foundation is committed to helping the people of Haiti one patient at a time. Teams will be making trips on a routine schedule to deliver donated goods and assist in relief efforts.
Your gift now will help distribute life-saving relief supplies – including food, clean water, blankets, medical supplies, and tents — to families devastated by the earthquake and aftershocks in Haiti.
About Us
The Dorsainvil Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to reaching out to the disadvantaged in the Arcahaie community in Haiti, by providing adequate healthcare to all individuals. Through the generosity of various pharmaceutical companies and private/corporate donors within Haiti and abroad, the foundation sponsors FREE medical missions to support good health.
Our Mission
Dorsainvil Foundation is dedicated to the medical concerns of the Haitian People.
The vision of Dorsainvil Foundation is to expand the medical mission and the small functional health facility, to a fully equipped hospital and outpatient center with a compassionate staff, accepting everyone in need of services, regardless of their social status.
Our History
In 1995, Pierre and Josephine Dorsainvil left their home in Long Island, New York to visit their native country of Haiti. Pierre Dorsainvil, 69, and his wife, Josephine, 62, had just finished building a vacation home in the small town of Arcahaie, Haiti, where both were born, raised, met and were married. During their visit four armed individuals entered and ransacked Pierre and Josephine Dorsainvil's home in Arcahaie, Haiti. The New York residents, who were in their homeland for a brief vacation, were shot and killed. Their five children survived them, a son and four daughters.
Stewardship
At the Dorsainvil Foundation, stewardship is an integral part of everything we do - because we recognize that every resource entrusted to us can transform real human's lives.
As part of our stewardship, we optimize resources and distribute them where they are needed the most.

IVERLYNE CHARLES CARRIED HER BURDEN FOR 10 YEARS
Cursed with a rare tumor that developed along her jaw and cursed with the poverty that made it impossible to find the medical care she needed, the Haitian girl grew into womanhood with little hope of healing.
For Dorsainvil, that meant finding a doctor to do the surgery, the money to pay the bills and a travel visa to allow Charles to spend a few months in the United States.
